The main ingredient in Za’atar mix is Origanum syriacum, a type of oregano that is unique to the Mediterranean Basin along Lebanon, Syria and the north of Israel. Za’atar mix is great as a topping for dairy products, like Labneh, bulgerian cheese or feta; or sprinkle on top of salads, eggs or hummus. Mix with olive oil to make a perfect dip for bread and challah, or use as a marinade for fish and vegetables before cooking.
